Wisdom tooth extraction
The most common reason why wisdom teeth extraction is needed is because the patient?s mouth is too small. Usually local anesthesia is enough to remove wisdom teeth, but in some cases intravenous sedation is recommended. Also if the wisdom tooth is impacted the oral surgeon or dentist will recommend wisdom tooth extraction, because it can damage nearby teeth, gums or even your bone structure.
The dentist will open up the gum tissue and extract the tooth, sometimes before the removal, the tooth will be cut into small pieces, to make the procedure easier. After extraction, patients will need stitches at the treated area.
